Our Story

Seaton Music has been presenting an annual season of professional concerts in Seaton since 1951. Traditionally held at the Town Hall, (now called the Gateway Theatre,) we have spread our wings to incorporate other venues in Seaton and the surrounding area. The Seaton Music Classical season runs from October to May. It is a registered charity (no. 271521, formally Seaton and District Music Club) and is affiliated to Making Music.

A wide range of artists, well known and talented young musicians, perform superbly a broad repertoire of classical music. 

Additional events showcasing the lighter side of classical music and hosted in different settings are run as Seaton Music Fringe. Our fund raising and business collaboration events are run as Seaton Music Extra.

Whatever your musical preference, from soloists to chamber ensembles, from early music to works by living composers, there have been many concerts to suit all. As well as promoting music by female composers, it has also championed the cause of new music and has commissioned a number of works.

We own one of the finest pianos in East Devon – a modern Steinway grand.

In addition to the annual season of concerts, we sponsor music workshops in schools – we are committed to encouraging music among young people and promoting local talent. Admission to all our concerts is free for under-19s and full-time students.
