Bossa Beleza create a relaxed, ambient atmosphere with a love of Bossa Nova music, some cool jazz and occasionally a pop classic in a Bossa style! Formed in 2010, Bossa Beleza have played hundreds of events at local venues around Somerset and Devon. We were delighted to play at the East Devon Soul Festival in Seaton earlier this year.

Mickie Ritchie is the founder member of Bossa Beleza and started playing Bossa Nova after hearing Astrud Gilberto on a cassette tape in the 80’s and falling in love with the music. Mickie studied classical guitar to degree level but also played electric guitar in several bands in her teens. Today Mickie teaches guitar and plays in 3 bands, Bossa Beleza, The Pheromones (80’s rock/pop) and Disco Cactus (disco/soul/funk) as well as writing, recording and publishing original songs and music, under her own name, that covers a range of styles from Bossa/Jazz to Soul/Dance.
Ben Modley is a multi instrumentalist musician and guitar teacher specialising in South American and Afro-Caribbean music on guitar, congas/percussion and flute. As well as playing for Bossa Beleza for the last 10 years, Ben is also a freelance musician and band leader of his own Salsa dance band “Benjamin and Sus Estrellas” and regularly plays congas with Milly Requelme’s Cuban and South American band.
